How to Buy an Apple or iTunes Gift Card with Bitcoin

There’s no such thing as an iTunes gift card any more. Apple folded it, along with the old Apple Store card, into a single Apple Gift Card, and that one code now pays for apps, iCloud+ storage, Apple Music, films and a brand new iPhone.

That makes it one of the most useful things you can buy with Bitcoin. Apple doesn’t accept crypto, but it accepts its own gift cards almost everywhere it sells something. Load a card onto your Apple Account and your subscriptions, app purchases and next pair of AirPods come out of a balance you funded from your wallet.

This guide covers how to buy one with Bitcoin or stablecoins, what it cost when we checked in October 2026, and the region and redemption rules that catch people out.

Is an Apple Gift Card the same as an iTunes card?

For anything you’d have used an iTunes card for, yes. Apple replaced the App Store & iTunes Gift Card and the Apple Store Gift Card with a single Apple Gift Card in the US in August 2020, then in Canada and Australia in July 2021, and in the UK in June 2022.

Old cards still work. An App Store & iTunes card you find in a drawer will still redeem to your Apple Account balance. The exception is an old Apple Store Gift Card, which only buys hardware and can’t be added to your balance.

So if you searched for an iTunes gift card, the thing you want is an Apple Gift Card. It does everything the old one did, plus iPhones.

How to buy an Apple Gift Card with Bitcoin

  1. Pick the card for your Apple Account’s country. SpendCrypto sells Apple Gift Cards for the US, UK, Canada and Australia. Getting this right matters more than anything else in this guide, and the region section below explains why.
  2. Choose the amount. The US card comes in $25, $100 and $500. The UK card takes any amount from £5 to £500, the Canadian card CA$5 to CA$500, and the Australian card A$5 to A$300.
  3. Choose how to pay. Bitcoin works, and so do Ethereum, Litecoin, Solana, Tron and BNB, plus USDT and USDC on several networks. The supported cryptos page has the full list.
  4. Check out with your email address. You don’t need to create an account. Checkout shows the exact amount of crypto to send and the address to send it to.
  5. Send the payment before the countdown ends. Send exactly the amount shown, on the network shown.
  6. Collect your code. Once the payment confirms, the code appears on your order page and arrives by email.

Redeeming it takes about a minute, and the steps are further down.

What it costs

We priced the cards at checkout in October 2026. Some gift cards on SpendCrypto sell at face value and some carry a small markup. Apple cards are in the second group.

CardPaid withPrice
$100 Apple Gift Card (US)USDT on Tron102 USDT
$100 Apple Gift Card (US)Bitcoin0.00123 BTC
$100 Apple Gift Card (US)SpendCredits102 SCC
£50 Apple Gift Card (UK)USDC on Polygon67 USDC

Those prices don’t include the network fee, which your wallet adds when you send the payment. That fee is set by the blockchain, not by us, and it varies more than most people expect. When we checked in October 2026, sending USDT on Polygon or BNB Smart Chain cost a fraction of a cent and Ethereum about a cent, while Tron cost around $4 to a fresh payment address unless the wallet had staked or rented energy. Bitcoin fees rise and fall with how busy the network is. On a $25 card, a few dollars of fees is a bad trade, so pick a cheap network for small cards. The guide to TRC20, ERC20 and BEP20 compares them properly.

If you buy Apple cards every month to cover subscriptions, look at SpendCredits. You top up a balance once (one SpendCredit is one US dollar) and pay for each card from it, so you only pay a network fee on the top-up instead of on every card.

Should you pay with Bitcoin or a stablecoin?

Either works. The difference is speed, fees and what you’d rather spend.

Bitcoin confirms in roughly 10 to 30 minutes. The amount is fixed when you check out, so the price of BTC moving while you wait for confirmations doesn’t change what the card costs you. You just need to send the exact amount before the countdown ends.

USDT and USDC confirm in seconds on BNB Smart Chain, Polygon and Tron, and in a minute or two on Ethereum. Because a stablecoin tracks the dollar, the price of a $100 card barely moves from one day to the next.

If you’d rather your spending money didn’t move with the price of bitcoin, many people keep a separate stablecoin balance for spending. USDT vs USDC explains how the two main ones differ.

How to redeem an Apple Gift Card

Your code is 16 characters long and starts with an X. Redeeming it moves the value onto your Apple Account balance, where it stays until you spend it.

On an iPhone or iPad

  1. Open the App Store.
  2. Tap your profile picture in the top-right corner.
  3. Tap Redeem Gift Card or Code.
  4. Choose to enter the code manually and type it in.

On a Mac, open the App Store, click your name in the bottom-left corner, then click Redeem Gift Card.

On a Windows PC, open the Apple Music or Apple TV app, click your name at the bottom of the sidebar, then choose Redeem.

If the code is rejected, Apple’s redemption help page covers the usual causes. Nine times out of ten, it’s a card from one country being redeemed on an account set to another.

How to add an Apple Gift Card to Apple Wallet

After you redeem the card, your balance shows up on the Apple Account card in the Wallet app on your iPhone. In some regions you can also redeem straight from Wallet: open the Apple Account card, tap the More button, then tap Redeem.

That Wallet card isn’t a general Apple Pay card. It works at Apple Store locations, not at the supermarket or anywhere else that takes Apple Pay.

How to use an Apple Gift Card in an Apple Store

Redeem the code first, then pay at the till with the Apple Account card in Wallet. Double-click the side button, choose the Apple Account card, and hold your phone near the reader. You can also tell the staff you’re paying with a gift card and give them the code.

How to check your Apple Gift Card balance

Open the App Store on your iPhone and tap your profile picture. If you have a balance, it shows under your name. On a Mac, it shows under your name in the App Store. For a card you haven’t redeemed yet, Apple has a balance checker on its website.

What you can buy with an Apple Gift Card

Apple’s list of eligible purchases is broad:

  • Apps and games from the App Store, including in-app purchases
  • Subscriptions billed through Apple, such as Apple Music, Apple TV, Apple Arcade, Apple One, Fitness+, News+ and app subscriptions you pay for through the App Store
  • iCloud+ storage
  • Films, TV shows, music and books from Apple’s stores
  • Hardware and accessories, including iPhones, iPads, Macs, AirPods and cases, from apple.com, the Apple Store app, Apple Store locations, and by phone

Can you buy an iPhone with an Apple Gift Card?

Yes. On apple.com, sign in with your Apple Account and choose how much of your balance to apply at the payment step. If the phone costs more than your balance, you pay the rest with another payment method. Apple allows up to eight gift cards on a single online order and up to 20 per transaction in a store, which is handy if you’re paying for a MacBook with several $100 cards.

What it can’t pay for

  • Other gift cards, including more Apple Gift Cards, and gifts bought for other people
  • A new AppleCare+ plan. Renewals can come out of your balance if you have another payment method on file and the balance covers the full charge, but you can’t start a plan with it
  • Your Apple Card bill
  • Anything outside Apple. Your balance won’t pay for Apple Pay purchases at other shops, and it can’t pay bills, taxes or government fees
  • Cash. Balances can’t be withdrawn, resold or moved to someone else’s account

Apple also notes that some purchases still need a credit or debit card on file even when your balance covers them.

Region rules: the part that trips people up

An Apple Gift Card only works in the country it was issued for. Apple’s US terms say a US card “can only be linked to an Account in the United States”. A UK card won’t redeem on a US account, and an Australian card won’t redeem on a Canadian one. When you try, Apple tells you the code has to be redeemed in a different store.

The second rule is less obvious. You can’t change your Apple Account’s country while you have a balance. Apple makes you spend it first, along with cancelling subscriptions and waiting out pre-orders. If what’s left is too small to buy anything, Apple Support can clear it, but you lose it.

Before you buy, check which country your account is set to. On an iPhone, go to Settings, tap your name, then Media & Purchases, View Account and Country/Region. Then buy the matching card.

If you’re about to move abroad, spend down your balance before you switch, and buy the card for your new country afterwards.

Paying for Apple subscriptions with crypto

This is where an Apple Gift Card earns its keep. Apple charges your balance first, for the full amount, before it touches your card. Once a card is redeemed, your iCloud+ storage, Apple Music and App Store subscriptions quietly come out of a balance you topped up with crypto.

A few details are worth knowing:

  • Apple says some subscriptions may not be charged to your balance, so check your next receipt to see what was billed where.
  • Your balance is yours alone. Family Sharing members can’t spend it, and when you buy something, your own balance is used before the family organiser’s payment method. If you want to cover the whole family’s App Store spending, buy each person their own card.
  • Top up before the balance runs out. If the balance can’t cover a renewal in full, Apple charges your other payment method.

Watch out for gift card scams

Apple Gift Cards are a favourite tool of scammers, so it’s worth saying plainly. Nobody legitimate asks to be paid in Apple Gift Cards. Not a tax office, not a utility company, not “Apple Support”, and not someone you’ve only met online. As the US Federal Trade Commission puts it, “only scammers will tell you to buy a gift card.”

Treat your code like cash. Don’t read it out over the phone or send a photo of it to anyone. If you think you’ve been targeted, contact Apple on 1-800-275-2273 in the US and say “gift cards”, and report it at reportfraud.ftc.gov.

Common questions

Can I buy an iTunes gift card with Bitcoin?

Yes. The iTunes card has been replaced by the Apple Gift Card, which covers everything the iTunes card did. You can buy one with Bitcoin on SpendCrypto for the US, UK, Canada and Australia.

How long does it take to get the code?

The code is released as soon as your payment confirms on the blockchain. That’s seconds on Tron and Solana, a minute or two on Ethereum, and roughly 10 to 30 minutes on Bitcoin.

Do Apple Gift Cards expire?

No. Apple Gift Cards in the US, UK, Canada and Australia don’t expire, and Apple doesn’t charge fees on them.

Can I use an Apple Gift Card with Apple Pay?

Only at Apple. Once you’ve redeemed it, the balance appears as the Apple Account card in Wallet, which you can use with Apple Pay in Apple Store locations. It won’t work with Apple Pay anywhere else.

Can I use a US Apple Gift Card in the UK?

No. Apple Gift Cards only redeem on an Apple Account set to the country the card was issued for. A US card needs a US account, and a UK card needs a UK account.

Can I buy Robux with an Apple Gift Card?

Yes, if you buy them inside the Roblox app on an iPhone or iPad. Those are App Store in-app purchases, so they come out of your Apple Account balance. If you buy Robux on the Roblox website instead, you’ll need a Roblox card.

Can I give an Apple Gift Card bought with crypto as a present?

Yes. Forward the code and the person redeems it on their own Apple Account. They don’t need a crypto wallet. Just make sure you buy the card for the country their account is set to.

What if I use an Android phone?

Apple Gift Cards are for Apple’s stores and devices. For apps and subscriptions on Android, buy a Google Play card instead.

Where to start

Paying for an iPhone or Mac in the US: the $500 Apple Gift Card, using as many as the order needs.

Covering iCloud+ and Apple Music: a $25 or $100 card paid on a cheap network like Polygon or BNB Smart Chain, or SpendCredits if you’ll top up every month.

In the UK, Canada or Australia: the UK, Canadian or Australian card in whatever amount you need.

And if Apple is only part of what you want to cover, how to spend Bitcoin runs through everything else your crypto can pay for.
